Mentors are vital for the professional growth of library professionals. This award honors and encourages the efforts and dedication of individuals in the library field who have demonstrated exceptional commitment with mentoring members of SUNYLA. It acknowledges support a SUNYLA member received to expand their knowledge and expertise within the library and information field.
Award criteria
- Eligibility for the Award acknowledges mentorship support of one or more SUNYLA members to reach professional goals within a SUNYLA library.
- Nominators must be a current SUNYLA member in good standing for at least 2 years.
- Award recipients do not need to be SUNYLA members.
- A nomination letter highlighting the nominee’s mentoring activities and how they have made an impact for at least one SUNYLA member’s library career.
The award is $250/per recipient, with a maximum of four given out in a year. An individual can only receive this award once. Winners are announced at the annual conference.
Nomination letters can be addressed to the “SUNYLA Mentor Award Review Committee” and sent to Jocelyn Ireland, jireland@mvcc.edu. Any questions about the Mentor Award can be sent to the same address.
Mentor Awards are presented during the Annual Conference in June.
