OLIS / SUNY News
• OLIS has been holding regular webinars focused on COVID-19 issues;
• OLIS sponsored 12 “4 Week Sprint” groups that addressed a variety of topics.
Elsevier Negotiations (Science Direct)
• SUNY and Elsevier have reached a new agreement on access to 248 core titles from the ScienceDirect database.
• SUNY faculty will receive a 10% discount on article processing charges (APC) for publishing open access work in Elsevier journals.
Activities related to the SUNY Open Access Repository (SOAR)
Soft roll out over summer 2020 with EDT/selected collections
• Update
o Campuses with EDTs in the current SUNY Digital Repository have been contacted (these are campuses that do not have local repositories)
o Atmire has been notified of what collections to copy into SOAR
o Waiting on feedback from Atmire
• Develop workflows and metadata templates
• Prepare materials related to OA promotions and copyright
• Help determine problems to be addressed
• Develop support models
• Have formal promotion campaign ready by Open Access Week scheduled for week of October 19, 2020
• Have package of materials ready for distribution (FAQs, etc.); identify were materials will be available for campus use
• Plan for a webinar
• Develop messages to stakeholders
• Define message
• Ensure message can be customized for campus use and various campus audiences – senior admins, dept. chairs, faculty, librarians, students
