Hello!
I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for such a great year. There is a lot happening in SUNY Library-land right now. OER is taking off with a bang both nationally, and within SUNY, and our libraries are taking the lead in so many ways. I was just in Albany last week, and the eyes of the nation (and the world!) are on SUNY to see how we move forward with OER. The SLC has begun to find it's footing as our new guiding organization, taking over some areas from OLIS and SCLD, and I look forward to seeing more collaboration from them with SUNYLA. Many of librarians and library staff are heavily involved in the process of prepping for the new LMS and the migration from ALEPH to ALMA. We can expect some growing pains, but I think that everyone sees that this will be a win in the long run.
The annual conference is once again upon us, and filled with great content. While you are taking in all of the wonderful sessions prepared by your colleagues, don't forget to take a few moments to spend some time connecting and networking. One of the best parts of SUNYLA is forming those connections that allow you to bounce ideas off of a colleague from another campus, or reach out for advice on a proposal or review of your promotion packet. We have so many amazing members, and I am thankful to be a member of this organization.
Again, thank you for allowing me to represent you all this past year as your President. I look forward to continuing my involvement in the future, and know that the incoming Executive Board, led by President Elect Carol Anne Germain is going to lead the organization well.
