SUNYConnect Library Services Platform
• The LSP RFP Evaluation Team has selected the Ex Libris Alma system and the associated Primo discovery service as the new SUNYConnect library services platform; thanks to the group for their time and effort;
• SUNY and ProQuest have begun initial negotiations in regard to the Alma and Primo acquisition;
• Significant product documentation on Alma and Primo is available at the Ex Libris Knowledge Center (no logon necessary);
• It has been announced that Heidi Webb (ESF) will begin as a project manager, SLC Library Services Platform Implementation later this month; Heidi reports to the LSP Project Director; the 60% release time arrangement is being paid for by OLIS.
SUNYConnect LMS
• This blurb does not do justice to the time and effort OLIS has put to the successful migration of the SUNYConnect Aleph systems to new ITEC hardware; thanks to all involved and to campus librarians involved in testing and verifying the new hardware and associated configurations;
• Bill Jones (Geneseo, SUNYLA) is now part of a 50% release time arrangement with OLIS to provide Aleph and associated support services; in this capacity Bill can be reached at mailto:william.jones@suny.edu
Electronic Resources
• Ten SUNYs signed up for a discounted site license for The Chronicle of Higher Education; current SUNY site license holders are as a result eligible for a 20% discount off the standard license price; please contact CHE for assistance;
• All SUNYConnect institutions have access to 4000+ SUNY Press ebooks (1959-2016) via the EBSCOhost platform (3 simultaneous users); title list, etc. available upon request;
• OLIS has begun discussions with the Wall Street Journal in regards to a SUNY site license offer;
• Current offer (OLIS wiki) for a discounted license to Films on Demand (new customers);
• Thanks to those who have completed the database survey; please consider providing your input regarding SUNYConnect databases;
• The SUNY team will be meeting with Elsevier June 14, 2017 at Stony Brook;
• Cold calls and related inquiries – Does your library have (purchasing) interest in Accessible Archives, Berrett-Koehler (ebooks), Credo Information Literacy modules, Digital Theatre+, JSTOR Evidence Based Acquisition (ebooks), Visible Body ?
Open Educational Resources
• 2017-18 New York State budget included $4M to assist SUNY in the development, support and deployment of open educational resources primarily in high enrollment general education courses;
• Planning for these OER monies is currently underway; an announcement is coming soon on how the funding will be allocated; if interested, all campuses will be eligible for minimally a baseline level of funding;
• A Request for Information document is being developed to hear from OER service providers;
• New EBSCO Discovery Service partner database – Open Textbook Library (EDSOTL); includes the Open SUNY textbooks;

• SUNY Libraries Consortium (SLC) documents, webinar sessions, etc are available online;

• Best wishes to Natalie Sturr (Oswego, OLIS) on her upcoming retirement (mid-July 2017); thanks for your years of SUNY service; but OLIS and SLC campuses will have the benefit of Natalie’s expertise and ongoing efforts (25% fte);
• Valerie Lehman (ITEC) is retiring soon; best wishes Valerie and thank you for your work on behalf of SUNY libraries;
