SUNYConnect Library Services Platform
•   The expectation is that the release of the Request for Proposals for a new SUNYConnect Library Services Platform is now looking like early February; vendor responses to the RFP will be due approximately five weeks after its release;
•   Evaluation Team for reviewing the RFP responses is Katherine Brent (Cobleskill), Jennifer Devito (Stony Brook), Michelle Eichelberger (Genesee), Pat Maxwell (Brockport), Jenn Murray (Buffalo), Gail Pawlowski (OLIS), Shannon Pritting (SUNY Poly), David Schuster (Binghamton), Wendy West (Albany) and Maureen Zajkowski (OLIS, ex officio);

Electronic Resources 
•   Carey Hatch and John Schumacher met 1/18/17 with representatives from Elsevier to discuss concerns related to customer service matters;
•   New York State Office of General Services has released and publicized details regarding the first round of vendors for their new combined database/serials contract; round one included Cengage, EBSCO and Elsevier; second round is expected to include ProQuest;
•   The following SUNYConnect ebooks (Gale Virtual Reference Library) are being upgraded to the most recent edition – Encyclopedia of Small Business (5th ed; 2017; available 3/10/17), Melton’s Encyclopedia of American Religions (9th ed; 2017; available now), Worldmark Encyclopedia of the Nations (14th ed; 2017; available 3/10/17);
•   A cost sharing model for a possible SUNY-wide license for The Chronicle of Higher Education is due to be released soon;
•   Upgrade pricing for campuses interested in moving to EBSCO’s “ultimate” database version is available via the OLIS wiki;
•   SUNY-wide offer for the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) is about to be shared;
•   The EBSCO and ProQuest knowledgebases for SUNY’s ScienceDirect collection have been updated; these now also include journal level pointers to open access content (for journals where the OA content is the only content available to SUNY);
•   Cold calls and related inquiries – Does your library have (purchasing) interest in Berrett-Koehler Publishers (ebooks), Credo Information Literacy modules, Elsevier ebooks, Sage publications?
Open Educational Resources
•   Open SUNY Textbooks and SUNY OER Services have offered the Executive Director of OER position to Alexis McMillan-Clifton of Lumen Learning; it is anticipated that she will start in mid-February.



Collaborations
•   SCLD has voted in favor of forming the SUNY Libraries Consortium (SLC); the vote was 53 in favor, 3 opposed;
•   A SLC transition team had its first meeting January 13, 2017; initial discussions are focusing on financial and governance models; that group is Katie Bram (Maritime), Randy Gadikian (Fredonia), Karen Gelles (Farmingdale), Brenda Hazard (HVCC), Connie Holberg (Jefferson), Rosanne Humes (Nassau), Curtis Kendrick (Binghamton), Eunkyung Lee (Oneonta), Susan Lieberthal (Suffolk), Charles Lyons (Buffalo), Heath Martin (Stony Brook), Mark McBride (OLIS), Sarah Morehouse (Empire), Rebecca Mugridge (Albany), Joe Petrick (Alfred), Cristina Pope (Upstate), Werner Sbaschnik (Old Westbury), Mark Smith (Ceramics);
•   An initial SLC Board of Directors has also been formed – Patrick Callahan (Chair, Purchase), Timothy Arnold (Jamestown), Carey Hatch (OLIS), Holly Heller-Ross (Plattsburgh), Curtis Kendrick (Binghamton), Evangela Oates (Sullivan), Christine Ruddecoff (Morrisville).

OLIS / SUNY News
•   The SUNY Office of Library and Information Services is extremely pleased to welcome the newest member of OLIS, Mark McBride began January 19th in the  library senior strategist position; welcome Mark!
•   OLIS’ other search for a (three year) library systems specialist was unsuccessful;
•   SUNY and SUNY’s Academic Technologies and Information Services grieve the passing of Sharon Gallagher; among a number of positions and service to SUNY, Sharon was the founding director of the SUNY Training Center (now the SUNY Center for Professional Development).

* Are there other SUNY libraries interested in a license from Newspapers.com (https://www.newspapers.com/) ?
