SUNYConnect LMS and Related Activities
• Thanks to The Aleph Group (OLIS/ITEC), the v.22 upgrade work has been completed for all development and all production systems on the shared servers; work completed successfully and on schedule; good work TAG!
SUNYConnect Library Services Platform
• A Request for Proposals is being finalized as the next step in the process of selecting a new SUNYConnect Library Services Platform vendor; plan is to have the RFP out this year with vendor selection in the first quarter of 2017;
• Review and discussion of the RFP will continue at the SUNY Council of Library Directors’ Fall Meeting (October 18,19);
• Thanks to Shannon Pritting (SUNY Polytechnic) and Maureen Zajkowski (OLIS) for their work on the RFP;
• A SUNYConnect LSP migration/implementation planning team is meeting in Albany today to continue planning; team members are Patrick Callahan (Purchase), Jessica Clemons (ESF), Karen Gardner-Athey (OLIS), Greg Gosselin (CUNY), Carey Hatch (OLIS), Curtis Kendrick (Binghamton), Mark McBride (Monroe), Gail Pawlowski (OLIS), Shannon Pritting (SUNY Polytechnic), Trevor Riley (Ceramics), John Schumacher (OLIS), Jennifer Smathers (Brockport), Mark Smith (Ceramics); Maureen Zajkowski (OLIS);
• Look for calls to participate in one or more of various working groups that will be created to work on getting-ready-for-the-new-library-system.
Electronic Resources
• Shared nursing ebook collection initiative (2016/17) has grown: additional campus participants, more content, and addition to the number of simultaneous users; per-campus costs are less than last year;
• Free access to Gale Researcher and additional information available at this site (registration required); trial access is available through October;
• The next meetings with the SUNY team and Elsevier will focus on 1) customer service issues 2) scholarly publication trends/open access; the SUNY team is Timothy Arnold (Jamestown), Austin Booth (Buffalo), Jessica Clemons (ESF), Carey Hatch (OLIS), Curtis Kendrick (Binghamton), Heath Martin (Stony Brook), Rebecca Mugridge (Albany), Trevor Riley (Ceramics), John Schumacher (OLIS), Bonnie Swoger (Geneseo);
• Campus subscriptions for Annual Reviews (2017) are being finalized;
• Please look for the upcoming call to participate to make a 2017 university-wide New England Journal of Medicine license a reality;
• SUNY ScienceDirect titles/holdings updated (EBSCO and ProQuest);
• Cold calls and related inquiries – Does you library have (purchasing) interest in Taylor/Francis ebooks), OneSource (business/marketing information), Berg Fashion Library ?
Open Educational Resources
• Introduction to OERs course begins October 3rd; more information and registration available;
Collaborations
• SCLD, University Faculty Senate, OLIS group working on open access issues, including webinars scheduled for Open Access Week (October 24-30, 2016).
