LACUNY held elections last week. We expect a new leadership team in place by the fall semester.
CUNY is moving ahead with the Digital Commons institutional repository. An instance is already running at the Graduate Center, and it is expected to roll out CUNY-wide in the near future. CUNY Office of Library Services (“CUNY Central Office”) is now hiring a scholarly communications librarian to support this service.
Our library school at Queens College is accredited, and has hired two new faculty members starting in the fall semester. LACUNY looks forward to strengthening mutual outreach with the library school.
LACUNY’s 75th Anniversary Celebration will be held on June 12, 2014 from 5:30-9 PM at the Baruch Vertical Campus. Appearing between the cocktails/hor d’oeuvres and desserts will be keynote speaker Dr. Kenneth T. Jackson, Jacques Barzun Professor in History and Social Sciences, Columbia University.
