It may seem like SILC has been very quiet lately, but there are several projects in the works. We did not have a January Instruction Showcase this year, but we fully expect it to return better than ever in 2027. The workgroups shared at the last council meeting are still active and working on projects.
The Advancing AI Literacy Workgroup, co-chaired by Ken Fujiuchi and Lauren DeLaubell, is currently working on shared AI literacy student learning outcomes tied to the SUNY GenEd Info. Lit. Competency and ACRL Framework. Ultimately, they will also collect instructional activities tied to those SLOs and shared over SOAR.
The Shared Repository Workgroup, co-chaired by Nicole Westerdahl and Jocelyn Ireland, is working with OLIS to create a new Information Literacy repository over SOAR. Submission guidelines and workflows are currently being developed. The goal is to have the site ready to share in Fall 2026.
Holly Kuhl continues to work with her small team with creating information literacy microcourses.
We hope to have a SILC sponsored webinar/conversation sometime this semester related to AI literacy in coordination with librarian members of the SUNY AI Fellows. More to come on that!
