Treasurer's Report

The SUNYLA Balance Sheet is available at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WQQyDyi9f-Qbw7V-0dOB58XRmjZAECBUiHJq9pywtOI/view. We received a few direct deposits for membership dues.

I have investigated our standing as a corporation and it does not appear that we have ever incorporated. This is something we need to do in order to file for 501(c)(3) status. We will need to choose our official business name. We have three options:
1. SUNYLA, INC.
2. SUNY Librarians Association, Inc.
3. State University of New York Librarians Association, Inc.

My preference is #1 because it's the shortest. We are no longer advocating for librarians alone, but libraries in general. In order to incorporate properly we need:
1. A registered agent ($49/year + $49/1st year for mail scanning/forwarding) - this provides us a business address and someone to receive any legal correspondence.
2. A phone number ($30/year through RedPocket Mobile for unlimited talk and text)
3. A phone (approximately $40).

We may need (although I don't think we will):
4. A post office box so that mail doesn't come to my campus and cause questions ($88/year at a small post office that is on my way to work).

Future costs that we will incur:
5. Filing fees to incorporate ($75 in NYS)
6. Checkbook cost ($25)
7. Filing fees for 501(c)(3) status ($275)

The only cost that we need the council to formally vote on (if they did note vote last time) is the $275 for the 501(c)(3) filing.
