Chuck Beedy, our new Library Technical Support Specialist, started on March 6th. We're very glad to have him on board, and he's already making some great progress on several hardware requests and projects.

We're also very excited to welcome our new Research & Instruction Librarian, Stephen Weiter. Stephen will be starting next week, and will be a key part of our team as Liaison to the College of Graduate Studies and Research Administration.

Heidi Webb, our Head of Discovery and Technology Services, has been granted tenure and promotion to Associate Librarian. Congratulations, Heidi!

Our Access Services team has been hard at work on some fantastic spring programming. This week we had Tea for Two Tuesday and Adopt a Plant Day, both of which were very popular. Other events this month include a talk from Upstate's Interpreter Services on how to better communicate with patients, a Narcan training from the Onondaga County Health Department, and two craft sessions perfect for spring: decoupaging a flowerpot, and making paper flower notes of encouragement.

Access Services is also having a great response to their Words of Wisdom project, which asks 4th year med students to fill out advice/encouragement cards to create a display for incoming students this summer. The focus has been on med students right now with Match Day this Friday, but the library will open it up to all other graduating students next month.

We are excited to report that we will be interviewing candidates for the instruction librarian position at Cobleskill over the next few weeks.

The annual mac & cheese contest was this week and was well attended.  There were eight entries for tasting.  Awards were given for best tasting, cheesiest, and most unique.

Resnick Library is excited to be participating in events leading up to the inauguration of our 11th President, Dr. Mary Bonderoff, on April 3rd. We will be hosting a mini-version of our Student Achievement and Research Day and an Edible Books Contest that week.

Library Staff are also excited to be helping to host the SUNYLA annual conference in a few months, and have been helping to plan and prepare to welcome all of our colleagues to our beautiful campus and town.

Jamestown CC's Hultquist Library is closed for renovations. Completion was supposed to be in May but it's probably going to be sometime over the summer.

Happy Spring, everyone!

MCC Libraries welcomed Afiya Farrel as our new First Year Experience Librarian in January.  And we just got word this week that our request for an Information Literacy & AI Librarian position has been approved so we will be posting that soon.

The library will be hosting the Celebration of Learning (as part of Scholars' Day events) on April 30th.  We've expanded from only the main floor of the library, adding the two upper floors as well as the outer lobby.  We are excited to showcase student work again this year!

We are in the early stages of outfitting several library spaces as "zen spaces" with materials now arriving for sensory friendly study spaces.  Stay tuned for more details to follow and a presentation at the SUNYLA conference about this initiative.
