Happy conference!
The IDEA committee has been spending a lot of energy navigating tough current events, from the war in Gaza to book banning and hostility towards the ALA. Amidst these issues, we've found a space for communicating more regularly with the membership at large by putting together a special DEI themed issue of the newsletter. We'll also have a regular small column in the newsletter going forward, so keep an eye out for resources and updates (Thanks to April Davies for making the newsletter happen!). In the coming year we're hoping to develop some handy mini guides on a variety of DEI topics, and possibly more depending on what the future has in store.
Thank you for the immense support SUNYLA's youngest committee has received over the past year and change. We can tell that equity and inclusion are high priorities for the organization and the people in our profession, and it means the world.
