President Report
« on: March 18, 2024, 10:58:20 AM »
Thank you to Charles Lyons, Justin Crossfox and the entire Buffalo State University team for hosting our council meeting on campus today. This is actually my first time on this campus and I am very much looking forward to seeing some of the facilities spaces we will be using during the Annual Conference.

Last month we had another amazing Mid-Winter Conference, the highly anticipated sequel to last year’s Library Data themed event. A huge shout-out and thank you to the conference committee: Jennifer DeVito, Jennifer Jeffery, Bill Jones, Jill Locascio, Carrie Marten, and Jessica McGivney.

There have been two OLIS Advisory Board meetings since our last session.

Lastly, as I am sure you are all aware. We have a major celestial event occurring on April 8th (our annual conference theme may be themed after it). The solar eclipse’s path of totality will impact 20 of our sister campuses these include: Jamestown Community College, SUNY Fredonia, Eerie Community College, Buffalo State University, University at Buffalo, Niagara County Community College, SUNY Brockport, Genesee Community College, SUNY Geneseo, Finger Lakes Community College, Monroe Community College, Onondaga Community College, Upstate Medical, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Jefferson, SUNY Canton, SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Plattsburgh, North Country Community College, and Clinton Community College. Whether you are in the path of totality or not, I am hoping everyone is providing some programming or involved with eclipse programming at your campuses. Come eclipse day it would be great to see everyone post on social media highlighting your activities. Be sure to include #SUNYLA! I will also point out that CLRC is providing solar eclipse grants upwards of $500 to help fund supplies and programming. The application deadline for this is (today) Friday, March 22nd.
