Good morning!
The IDS Project's 20th Anniversary Conference in July at Utica University was a great success! We had 84 attendees, amazing presentations, and Elijah Scott as our keynote. Elijah talked about issues facing our campuses such as metadata ownership, over-pricing of software and services, and what this looks like for our future.
We are looking for a new venue for our 2024 conference. Please let us know if your campus might be interested in hosting!
IDS Project also was awarded an IMLS Grant for $230,000 to develop a new resource sharing system we are calling Cross-Share. Cross-Share will allow any resource sharing system to communicate with any of the others. It will provide a discovery and availability system for all members as well. The goal is to provide a simpler, cheaper alternative for resource sharing and discovery while eliminating the silos we are seeing today.
IDS will be having our virtual user group in late October or early November.
IDS is also starting our new IDS Forums to provide a bit more help for the community and giving people a chance to talk about the issues at their libraries. The hope is this will help our members and also strengthen our community.
