Alayna Vander Veer joined the Milne Libary team at SUNY Oneonta as a Reference and Instruction Librarian on August 8, 2022. Hailing from Western New York, Alayna came to Oneonta by way of Syracuse where she received her MLIS from Syracuse University. Alayna also earned a BA in English from Ithaca College.

Alayna is also on the steering committee for SUNY Oneonta's annual PRISM Conference on October 21-22nd. It is a small, intimate gathering of folks who wish to “highlight and celebrate LGBTQIA+ experiences through fostered dialogue across academic and/or practical experiences, disciplinary foci, and institutional perspectives, as well as provide support and resources to those that attend.” The theme this year is “Leaving a Healing Footprint, Laying a Healthy Foundation.” To learn more, visit the conference website here: https://suny.oneonta.edu/gender-and-sexuality-resource-center/prism-conference

SUNY Morrisville has had a relatively quiet summer, here are just a few updates from the past few months.

SUNY Morrisville held its annual Professional Development Conference in May. Campus librarians were involved with a number of the sessions held.
•D2L Brightspace Update & Q&A: Adam Saunders & Yunkai Xu
•Gear Up for Continuing Appointment & Promotion: Angela Rhodes, Ben Ballard, Diane Tice, & Michelle Mitchell
•Y'all Ready for This?: Information Literacy Skills Roadmap to Prepare for the New SUNY GER: Adam Saunders, Michelle Mitchell, & Angela Rhodes
•“Tech Savvy”? Discussions on technology support for Generation Z: Adam Saunders
•Games in the Classroom: Fresh Perspectives on Video Games and Education: Jamal Verity, Richard Marcoux, & Angela Rhodes

Librarians Michelle Mitchell, Angela Rhodes, and Adam Saunders also presented a poster at the SUNYLA 2022 Conference. The poster titled Navigating the New SUNY GER with an Info Lit Map outlined the process of developing a rubric which formalizes the approach to the integration of information literacy skills throughout the SUNY Morrisville curriculum at all course levels.

Adam Saunders was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship at the 2022 SUNY Morrisville Commencement Ceremony.

The SUNY Morrisville Library hosted a Look back at 1972 gallery wall display featuring photographs of that year in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1972. This display took part during the campus homecoming weekend and also hosted a number of yearbooks and other materials for guests to look through.

MVCC welcomed Molly Cameron as our new User Experience Librarian in June. Molly earned an MLIS degree with a concentration in academic libraries from the University of South Carolina. They moved to central NY from Illinois.

We are welcoming applications for part-time reference librarians for our Utica campus.

The library invited students to Pop! into the Library during the first week of classes. We used programming funds which have gone underutilized during the pandemic to purchase cake pops, Pop Tarts, lollipops, and Pop Rocks. When students came in for the treats, we invited them to take a self-guided tour of the library and write down something they learned to enter a prize drawing. Thank you to Western Illinois University Library, from whom we adapted this idea.

Jocelyn Ireland was awarded the Excellence in Librarianship Award during MVCC's awards banquet in May.

Claire Ehrlich and Jocelyn Ireland presented at ENY-ACRL's and SUNYLA's annual conference on "The Implications of Neuroscience on Library Instruction." They also presented "Confident Competency: Infusing Information Literacy into your Instruction" discussing the new SUNY info lit GER at MVCC's Institute for professional development for faculty and staff.

The Resnick Library participated in several orientation events as we welcomed new and returning students back to campus. The start of the semester has been a busy one (Yeah!) as students have been engaged and back on campus and in the library.

Delhi is in the middle of a search for a new Electronic Resources & Systems Librarian. We hope to have someone onboard for the start of the spring semester.

Library staff are busy planning for our 4th annual LibraryCon to take place on October 19th this year - with a fun 90's theme addition. We'll share some photos in the next update.
