The 2023 SUNYLA Midwinter Online Conference, Library Data: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was held on Friday, February 3, 2023. I'd like to thank the conference committee for their hard work in making this year's conference a huge success. We broke some records for ourselves with 1490 registrants, and 982 unique attendees, and 706 unique concurrent attendees at one time. All of the conference slides, recordings, and Q&As are uploaded to the conference site:
https://sunyla.org/sunyla-midwinter-2023/ and I'd like to give and extra special shout out to Bill Jones for splitting the recordings and uploading them. We received a lot of great feedback from conference attendees which we hope to apply to next year's conference.
Bill had mentioned some issues with having to pay for additional cloud storage for the Midwinter videos so we wanted to recommend that SUNYLA licenses a 1-year 30GB cloud storage plan from Zoom at a rate of $120 per year to use for recording web-hosted conferences and sessions. Currently, we pay $40 per month for 200GB only during the Midwinter conference, and each year we are charged for multiple months because we need Zoom to hold the original video files while the videos are split up for upload to YouTube. Our conference recording sessions for a full day have typically been under 2GB.
Here is a link and screenshot of the plan:
https://zoom.us/pricingWe're not currently able to see what the exact price will be at checkout because our current cloud storage plan is being disabled. We should be able to see what the exact price is after April 4th, and we anticipate that it will be $120.
