*Flora Nyland, the SUNY ESF - Moon Library Archivist is retiring after nearly 30 years of service in November 2011.
*Due to budgetary considerations, it is expected that the Moon Library Archives position will remain unfilled for the next few years.

In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities required for an Assistant Librarian, the following knowledge skills and abilities may also be required:
Interact with researchers; negotiate and analyze research questions and determine most appropriate resource(s) to address the question; construct complex research strategies to facilitate patron research.
Utilize numerous complex research resources such as online catalogs and databases, finding aids, reference sources, technical manuals, etc. to perform job responsibilities.
Create finding aids for library materials.
Interact with researchers and provide consultation on appropriate technologies to accomplish research goals.
Track, compile, analyze, and interpret non-financial statistics.
Participate in library-wide planning and serve on campus-wide committees and task forces.
Active professionally and contributes to developments in the field.
Required Qualifications:
MLS degree from an ALA-accredited Library Science program and library or related work experience.
Knowledge of trends and services in academic libraries to support research programs.
Experience providing reference/instructional services in an academic library setting, teaching experience, or knowledge of instructional methods.
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in instruction and information technologies.
Experience in developing tutorials and learning objects.
Ability to successfully initiate, track, and manage projects.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with faculty, students, and academic administrators.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
General knowledge of library catalogs and related tools/resources including databases and Internet resources; directional and customer service skills.
Ability to use independent judgment, effective organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with MS Office, Access, Internet, Email.
Prior academic library experience.
A second Masters degree in a STEM subject area.
Proficiency with technical protocols and systems specific to libraries such as MARC, DCRM, HTML, etc.
Knowledge and skills required to support Scholarly Communications efforts of the Library and the College.
General knowledge of discovery and delivery tools including Voyager, Encore, ILLiad, bibliographic records and call numbering systems.
Experience with LibGuides and RefWorks or similar tools
Excellent customer service skills.
Digital technology skills.
Some experience with the creation of metadata.
Data manipulation skills
