Membership Development Committee
« on: March 25, 2021, 04:57:25 PM »
Here are the latest membership stats for March 2021
Current members: 362
Lifetime Members: 39
Student members: 85
Delegates: 56

SUNYLA membership has declined slightly. Though we can anticipate a change, since the conference registration usually generates a jump in numbers.
We did receive a request to gift a membership. This is possible with the giver filling in the registration form and payment. We could set this up more formally on the website to encourage library leaders (e.g., directors, deans) to sponsor new hires. Twice a year, the Committee could send an email to key library administrators promoting this opportunity.
The SUNYLA LIS Student subcommittee met in early February and sent out a survey to current student members. To date, there are 13 responses (11 UB, 1 Queens, 1 UAlbany). It will be sent out a second time for more responses. From the survey responses it looks like students would most be interested in us providing interviewing workshops, mentorship, Resume/CV workshops, and a student advisory panel to SUNYLA.

The subcommittee developed a second survey for student non-members that will be shared through liaison channels. The committee is working on a flyer/poster that is focused on student membership which will include a QR linking directly to membership registration and a focus on membership being free for 2 years. This poster/flyer will be shared with through liaisons with the hopes that they will share with their student institutions via listservs. In addition, the subcommittee will make posts to social media channels to bring attention to student membership.
Another meeting is planned for April to discuss continuing to grow student memberships and the promotion of the 2021 Annual Conference to our current student membership and potential student members.

Once again – a note to delegates - Due to Covid and working off-campus conditions, physical checks to SUNYLA will take some time to process. At this point, deposits should all be up to date. Most of membership is paid via PayPal.

Respectfully,
Carol Anne
