The NYLA Annual conference was held in Lake Placid, October 21 – 24, 2015.  It was a very successful conference, with approximately 770 people attending.

ASLS programs were very well attended and the comments on the programs were very positive.  Planning for next year’s conference is now underway.  The conference will be back in Saratoga next year.

Membership Development Committee Report
Submitted by Carol Anne Germain, Chair
September 2015

The Membership Committee met at the June conference and discussed current initiatives (lanyards went well) and future plans.  We talked about a lifetime membership – do you think that would be of interest? Using the numbers from an ALA lifetime membership:
                49 and Under       50-59        60 and above
ALA           $2,000                $1,750      $1,400
SUNYLA     $350                    $300        $250

Thoughts??

Here are the latest membership stats:
Current members = 125 (assuming there are more after conference data)
Delegates = 49
We are still working on the conference memberships - this seems to be problematic.  I need to connect with Logan to work out the details.

News:
Work in the Membership Directory:
Ongoing:  Logan addressed the duplicates & spam entries in the database admin section – we are in good shape
Ongoing: Merge entries in admin section with the current directory

lanyards for SUNYLA.   Thanks everyone for their recommendations.  so far it looks like our best bet is working with Proforma Shrader and Sharder.  I've attached a price quote with 4 different options.  I'm waiting on a couple samples to make sure they are the quality that we want.    Depending on the style and clip we can get 500 for well under $700.   We have plenty of time to get these for the conference.
Product# LPY58   $490 ($450 + $40 (setup))
Product #: LTB12   $550 ($510 + $40 (setup))
Product #: LWV58   $610 ($570 + $40 (setup))

I haven't seen the samples but I think any of these 3 would be fine.   I'm assuming we would want royal blue.   I'd love some feedback from the group.  Good news, they will take a check from SUNYLA so no one has to front the costs or use their own credit card.

Looking into potential SUNYLA "swag" items, particularly lanyards.   (the usb drives are a little pricey) This is doable but I have a couple questions:
How many lanyards do we want?  How much do we want to spend? (the best price looks like it would be quantity of 250 and the cost could vary but it's the ballpark of $300-350)
How do we plan to pay for it?  Do we need a SUNYLA credit/debit card (Sorry Greg)?

News from NYLA:

They are currently working on their NYLA/ASLS programming

NYLA has implemented a great institutional membership package that should be very attractive to members - Jeremy Johannessen is the contact on that.

NYLA has a new strategic plan in the works, more details to come in the future

NYLA would love to see the SUNYLA members at their annual conference during the Academic and Special Libraries section presentations and sessions.

29
We have 247 people signed up for the entire week.  Here's the registration breakdown for the conference:
Academic Libraries only - 30
AL and Friday only  - 1
AL & SUNYLA combo - 33
SUNYLA only - 175
Friday only - 9

There have been some on site registrations but I do not have those numbers yet.

Carol Anne beat her personal best with approx. $25,000 in vendor support (could be higher as of today!)
