November 17, 2023

Activities:
•   The October issue of the newsletter went out on time
    o     included plugs for conference planning, PD grants, new listserv
•   Next issue is February

Upcoming:
•   Discuss reintroducing theme issues
•   Finish updating photo collage for FB page (at least I remembered to start it)

September 15, 2023

Activities:
•   Not much since the May newsletter, a few social posts about the conference in June and, more recently, one about book displays
•   Call for Submissions for the October issue went out, deadline is 9/22

Upcoming:
•   Getting the October newsletter out during October  :D
•   Discuss reintroducing theme issues
•   Update photo collage for FB page (it’s been a crazy few months or it would’ve been done already)

June 9, 2023

Activities:
•   The May newsletter went out on schedule 
•   Social media: 323 followers on FB, 306 on Twitter

Upcoming:
•   Call for submissions for the October newsletter will go out early-mid September
•   Annual conference! Take lots of pictures for me and don’t for get to tag them (#sunyla ; #sunyla2023)

Especially for delegates:
•   You can include all sorts of things in your campus news submissions for the newsletter. Some suggestions:
    o   Faculty and staff achievements (publications, presentations, awards, tenure, etc.)
    o   Library personnel hires, departures, promotions
    o   Fun and/or interesting events happening in or sponsored by the library
    o   Renovations, projects, interesting outside-the-library happenings
•   The best suggestion….read what other campuses have included. If Library A included things about Topic X, then so can you!
•   The most recent issue of the newsletter is easily found on the SUNYLA website (https://sunyla.org) if you don’t have the direct link handy. Under Communications right there on the top menu. Older issues too!

March 24, 2023 Council Meeting @ SUNY Maritime / Campus Updates-Cobleskill

Instruction Librarian Freya Gibbon is enjoying her maternity leave with her first child. He's adorable and has so far behaved beautifully during Zoom calls. The rest of the librarians are covering her classes when we can.

The Mac & Cheese cook-off was a big success. Yours truly took home prizes in 2 categories. Yes, that is how I determine success. ;)

Campus administration has approved restoration of our evening adjunct Reference line. The search will start late-July/August.

Serials & E-Resources librarian Peter Barvoets will retire in June. A search will begin for his replacement soon, we're just waiting for the final click-offs in Interview Exchange.

•   May newsletter went out a little later than I wanted but still on time

Activities:
•   Febuary newsletter came together without a hitch and went out on time
•   Social media member spotlights:  Do you know a SUNYLA member that should be spotlighted? Are you that member? We want to highlight you! Send an email to Amanda Lowe (amlowe@albany.edu) for details.

Upcoming:
•   We lost a member when they left their job at MVCC. I'm not going to worry about filling the spot until summer.
•   The next newsletter issue will be May, call for submissions will go out mid-late April
--> May is the last issue before the conference so this will be the last chance to advertise anything conference-related. I’d really like to include something about the keynote, events, and/or other conference info.

     -   the latest one (8/6) was seen by 801 people on Twitter, with 19 engagements; 73 on FB, with 7 engagements
•   Speaking of social media, we currently have 297 followers on FB and 310 on Twitter

We are pleased to be welcoming Freya Gibbon as our new Instruction Librarian & Reference Coordinator starting on Sept. 20

We are currently searching for a Circulation Supervisor (Clerk 2) as Cat Wise has left us for a position at SUNY Oneonta.
