Hello from SUNY Canton!

Over the summer we hired a new Student Success and Support Librarian. Joe Malek joins us from Niagra University and is excited to experience his first fall semester at Canton.

Our Library Director, Anna Wong, just completed a certificate in Open Education Librarianship and states "They are now accepting 2024 application – Personally I would highly recommend the program to anyone who would like to grow professionally in the area of open education initiatives." You can look into it more here:

We have expanded our arts in the Learning Commons initiative for the fall semester. Building upon our weekly music hour in the cafe and our semesterly Open Mic Night, we have started displaying art collections from the faculty and we are employing students to create themed artwork that will rotate every year.

We hope everyone has a great start to the semester!

SUNY Canton update

We do not have many updates as Spring semester starts up. We reorganized the second floor in order to open up the space more and showcase our collections. We also found out that we were awarded a grant in order to expand our DEISJ collection and textbooks.

The biggest update for SUNY Canton is our new Library Director Dr. Anna Ching-Yu Wong! Dr. Ching-Yu Wong joins us from Shawnee, Kansas where she worked as a Senior Information Scientist for Quintiles IMS Pharmaceutical Company. Prior to this, Dr. Ching-Yu Wong served as an academic librarian at several institutions including community and technical colleges, and as a library director for Brown Mackie College at Kansas City, KS. Dr. Ching-Yu Wong received her Ph.D. in Professional Studies in Information Management from Syracuse University.
