Proposal for changing how we archive content from previous SUNYLAs - Renea will be presenting the plan in person at the meeting and this report serves as a written version. Enjoy the conference, all!

Hi all! Happy SUNYLA meeting! Renea Rapp from SUNY Maritime will be delivering our proposal in person but I wanted to provide a report for the online forum.

Previously, the way that all documentation for SUNYLA planning and associated materials has been archived is by the current SUNYLA archivist requesting the materials from those involved and then creating a digital backup of those materials to be sent to University at Buffalo. This method has been spotty for a number of reasons and Renea looped me in on a plan to make the documents easier to collect and more accessible for future conference committees.

This will one - create a better documentation history for the archive and two allow committees to continuously avoid reinventing the wheel by having to re-create documentation that already exists. Instead committees would easily be able to access the documentation and then make changes to suit the unique needs of that conference.

The plan currently is to create a large google drive repository for these documents. Renea and I are working on an organizational schema that will allow for easy drops and downloads of documents. Editing privileges can be passed from committee to committee and at the conclusion of each sunyla we will be able to download and send the documentation from that particular conference for permanent placement at UB.

Google Docs is the proposed system due to its availability and ease of use for both Google and Microsoft Campuses. Also permissions could easily be swapped between planning committees from conference to conference. The SUNYLA archivist would maintain it and make sure that the relevant individuals had access to edit and access materials. If approved we would be looking to implement this plan for the 2023 SUNYLA conference.

We're excited at SUNY Delhi to be welcoming everyone to campus for our digital conference. The librarians have been working diligently to make sure that everyone has a great experience. Post SUNYLA we're gearing up with summer projects that we haven't been able to perform for a few years due to building maintenance. If you haven't seen it please check out the amazing welcome video Kate Baroody and Amanda Calabrese worked on, with additional help from other librarians and staff.

Happy SUNYLA everyone! I have started work drafting an archives policy for digitally created documents - like conference proceedings, meetings notes, etc etc. to be archived. Emily Kilcher at U Albany has kindly offered to work on this with me.

The Resnick Library had a successful Fall semester wherein we moved the majority of our library services online and rotated staff to cover building hours. This semester we are preparing for the return of students in February. Librarians have developed successful online instruction sessions, notably, Kate Baroody developed a popular online Escape Room to serve as an introduction to the library and its services.

Hope everyone is well and continues to be as safe as possible.

SUNY Delhi, like many other campuses, made the decision to close the library for the remainder of the semester. Librarians and library staff will be working remotely to continue to provide essential library services like reference, instruction, and research assistance. Although all of our planned programs for the remainder of the semester have been canceled we're now looking at ways to provide programming through zoom and Facebook. Plans are in the works to do an abbreviated version of our Ugly Art Night Program and we have been working on a lib guide to gathering together all of the free online tours and streaming being offered during the COVID-19 outbreak. Jenny Collins is training two of the library staff to perform basic archiving duties during the pandemic.

Keep on keeping on, all!

SUNY Delhi has had a busy fall. On October 27th we held our second annual Library Con (can't call it a comic con, thanks copyright trolling). We had vendors from the local Oneonta area game stores guiding students through games of Dungeons and Dragons, Lightening Talks given by faculty, a costume contest, an array of crafting activities and a demonstration on Cosplay from a local community member. Several student clubs were involved in the event as well as colleagues from the Oneonta Public Library who very kindly came and ran two escape rooms. Hats off to the phenomenal Liz Santabono (one of our great library clerks) and Librarian Kate Barody for the planning and decorating before the event. Our student attendance was excellent.

We're continuing to make strides further into OER and one of our librarians (Jenny Collins) is working with the honors committee to pass a new honors 100 course with heavy library research skill and information literacy focus.
