President's Report
« on: November 16, 2016, 04:34:50 PM »
Hello SUNYLA!

As a reminder, our remaining Council Meetings are scheduled for:
Friday, January 27, 2017:  SUNY FIT
Friday, March 10, 2017:  SUNY Stony Brook
Wednesday, June 14, 2017:  SUNY Stony Brook

Please remember (and remind your colleagues) that anyone within SUNY Libraries has a voice in SUNYLA and I highly encourage anyone willing and able to attend either in person or virtually.

On Monday, October 17th – Wednesday, October 19th, Carrie Fishner (SUNYLA 1st Vice President) and I attended the SCLD Meeting at the Century House in Albany.  This meeting had many interesting topics to cover, including the latest report on the LSP RFP and the new SCLD Governance Structure.   After this meeting, the Ithaka Steering Committee continued to hold meetings in order to develop a document describing the new model, called the SUNY Libraries Consortium (SLC).  This document is attached to this forum post (Titled: Your SLC).  I encourage you to read this document, discuss the document with your Library Director and colleagues, and consider SUNYLA’s involvement in this new model.  SUNYLA has been invited to join the SLC as a Committee and has also been offered a seat on the Executive Board (without voting rights – identical rights to what we have now).  Please share your thoughts on our relationship with the proposed SLC during the upcoming Council meeting.  If needed, we can schedule a virtual meeting for our membership in addition to this Council Meeting for further discussion.

However, there have already been four virtual meetings scheduled for all members of SUNY Libraries to attend.  Please join the Ithaka Steering Committee for one (1) of four (4) webinars where the structure of the new governance model proposed by Ithaka S+R will be focus of the presentation.  The new structure is currently still in development and is being informed by the comments and concerns expressed at the Fall SCLD meeting as well as during these meetings.  Below is the timeline we will be following to present the new model and for Directors to vote on the new model:

November 15: The structure of the new SUNY Libraries Consortium governance model was shared with members of SCLD

November 28: A series of webinars (4) will be held the week of November 28th.  Please note, there will be two webinars on December 2 (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).  Here are the meeting links:
