June 17, 2020 Council Meeting @ VIRTUAL (Annual) / Treasurer's report
« on: June 16, 2020, 01:58:02 PM »
Hi everybody!

Due to the fact that the bank has my office phone as my two-factor authentication thing, I can't get into that account from home right now. Luckily nothing has happened there since the March meeting so there's nothing to report anyway. As of the last time I was able to check we had $22,944.73 in the bank, and there haven't been any major expenses/deposits since then so it should be about the same. In PayPal we have $32,178.84, which is $4445.76 more than at the last meeting (all memberships, several lifetime!).

So in total right now we have about $55,123.57 available.  8)

Please let me know if you have any questions and maybe by the fall I can produce an actual report!

March 27, 2020 Council Meeting (VIRTUAL) / Treasurer's Report

So, this will be a little less detailed than usual because I don't have access to my paperwork/files on my office computer, but basically we're doing the same as we were last time.

Since January 1, we've made (as far as I can tell/remember with the resources currently at my disposal):

$1989.42 in paypal, all membership/professional development grant contributions.
$300 (*approximately*) in checks for membership and payback from previous conference.

We haven't spent too much money so far this year. Our main expenses have been reimbursements from the January council meeting and Zoom fees for the Midwinter online conference.

If anyone needs more details on anything I'll do my best to provide them, but we're still doing fine money-wise.

Hi all!

I've attached the 2019 annual report - we have $22,944.73 in the bank and $24,728.11 in paypal, for a grand total of $47,672.84.

Our income this year totaled $22,665.64, which is just about perfect. It gives us enough to fund conferences/meetings along with a little buffer, but it is low enough that we don't have to worry about filing a full tax return.

Speaking of which: I filed the e-postcard 990N with the IRS, which satisfies our reporting requirement as a non-profit because our usual income is below $50,000/year. They define this as the average of the previous 3 years being below $50,000, which we do easily at this point:

2017: $14,426.22
2018: $19,144.57
2019: $22,665.64

I'm not posting a separate report for the period from our November meeting through January because nothing's happened money-wise in January yet, so the annual report includes everything.

Enjoy the report and please let me know if you have any questions!

P.S. - The last couple of years I've gotten spam from some company claiming that they'll make filing the 990 easier, and at least one other SUNYLA person has gotten them too. If you do get these, please ignore/delete them. I file directly through the IRS website and the only way it could be easier is if they came to my office and did it for me.  :)

Hi everyone, we still have money! The bank account currently has $26,290, and paypal has $24,327.54, for a grand total of $50,617.54. I'm not sure if this is the most we've ever had, but it's close, so if anyone has good ideas that require money, this would probably be a good time to propose them!

The bank spreadsheet is attached, please let me know if  you have any questions!

We have $14,816.99 in the main account and $23,768.56 in paypal for a total of $38,585.55, so we're doing fine. See attached pdf for the bank account details and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi everyone! We have $17358.70 in the bank, and $22,804.21 in paypal, and we're about to be get back $12,599.39 from the last conference, so we'll have a total of $52,762.30. I've attached the spreadsheet for the bank account, please let me know if you have questions. Paypal is mostly memberships with a few vendor payments that snuck in before the conference system got set up, but if anyone wants more details I can fill you in.

Thanks, and see you tomorrow!

Hi everyone!

I'm unable to be at the meeting, but if you have any questions please email me and I'll answer them as soon as I can. I've attached the fairly uneventful spreadsheet for our 2019 bank account, where we currently have $19,242.84. I have a few membership checks that haven't been deposited yet, which is why it shows $0 income so far this year. We also have $16,896.44 in our paypal account (33 memberships this year for $1238.68 so far).

Hi, our current bank balance is $19,144.57, and our paypal balance is $15,658.64, so we have $34,803.21 total.

Normally at this meeting I report on having filed our form 990N(e-postcard), which tells the IRS that we make on average less than $50,000/year, and so we are not required to file a full tax return. Our income for 2018 was $38,240.12. This year so far I have been unable to submit the 990N because the government is shut down. My thoughts on this situation are available here:

I've attached the annual report for 2018 here, please let me know if you have any questions.

Better late than never! We have a balance of 13,141.77 currently in the main account. There is 14,449.44 in paypal, and there is 5,331.60 in vendor money currently on the way to the conference chair to pay conference bills.

January 26, 2018 Council Meeting @ FIT / Treasurer's Report
« on: January 25, 2018, 03:20:19 PM »
Hi everyone! We have 14426.22 in the bank account, and 10648.09 in paypal, for a total of: 25074.31. So we're doing fine, see attached spreadsheet for details. Note: I've attached only the 2017 annual report here, because the 2018 report so far only includes 3 membership payments.

I can also report that I've submitted our 2017 e-postcard to the IRS stating that we normally make less that 50,000/year, and it has been accepted, so that takes care of our tax reporting duties for the year.

Please let me know if there are any questions!
