We are preparing to search for a new Outreach and Public Services Librarian as Mandy Babirad has chosen to move to the public library sector.

ILL and Archives Librarian Katherine Brent is co-chairing SUNY Cobleskill’s Middle States Steering Committee.

Instruction Librarian Don LaPlant’s flash fiction piece, “Safety”, was recently published by Mystery Tribune (https://www.mysterytribune.com/safety-contemporary-crime-flash-fiction-by-don-laplant). His short crime fiction has been published previously in Thuglit magazine and online in the Akashic Books Mondays Are Murder series.

We are pleased to welcome Stacy Abrey as the newest member of the library team! Stacy is our new Tech Services clerk. She's only been with us for about a month but it feels like longer, in a good way. :)  Stacy will be heading to the NYSLAA conference in Geneva this week with most of the other staffers.

We hosted our annual Student Research Showcase in April. https://web.cobleskill.edu/media/2019/04/29/2019-student-research-showcase-features-abundance-of-research-across-disciplines/

The Library's "Mac-n-Cheese is Love" contest was a big hit with 17 different varieties to enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/cobylib/photos/a.195379230503789/2486998798008476/?type=3&theater.  Our next big event is the annual Student Research Showcase on April 24th.

In campus news, SUNY Cobleskill has established a new Bachelor of Technology degree program in Canine Training in Management. The first in SUNY and one of only a handful in the US.

Instructional Design Librarian Don LaPlant had a chapter selected for inclusion in the forthcoming book Hidden Architectures of Information Literacy Programs to be published in mid-2019 by ACRL.

The library's mac-n-cheese cookoff (Mac-n-Cheese Is Love) is scheduled for Valentine's Day. Stop by and be one our tasters if you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood.

We've added an award for excellent writing as part of our annual Student Research Showcase. We hope to expand this awards program in subsequent years, but in our inaugural year, eligibility will be limited to essays submitted as research papers in sections of ENGL101. The showcase will take place April 24th here at the library.

Our annual Chili Cook-Off is happening Oct. 3 here at the Library. Stop by and be a taster if you're in the neighborhood. Our big book sale will be going on at the same time so you can do some shopping too!

Serials & Systems Librarian Peter Barvoets was recently promoted to the rank of Associate Librarian.

April Davies, Head of Technical & Public Services, will be doing a poster session on adapting a weighted allocation formula to work for smaller libraries at the upcoming Charleston Conference.

We are in the process of hiring a new Tech. Services clerk and are hoping for an Oct. 1 start date.

Wrong agenda I think. The file name is right but the content is for the June meeting at FLCC.
